I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, turkey and all the fixings (I enjoyed veggie chicken tenders with my stuffing, potatoes etc), and yummy pies! My pants are tight around the waistband so I decided to wear my fleece sweatpants to feel more comfortable!
I finished up the final charm swap that I am participating in; 12 days of Christmas. I was responsible for creating charms representing ” 8 Maids a Milking.”. I used Patera bezels and ice resin for this project. This was my first time working with ice resin and paper. These did not come out perfect but I learned a lot in the process. I used modge podge on both sides of the paper, but only one coat. It is suggested that two coats are applied and NOT to forget the edges ( I forgot about the edges). Also, it was recommended that the inside of the bezel is coated with modge podge also. Again, this was a step I wasn’t aware about when making the charms. However, achieving an equal balance of resin and hardener was fairly easy and the resin coating in all the bezels dried perfectly, no tackiness. I love love working with Ice Resin, which is non-toxic, and I look forward to using it a lot more for future projects.
Now that the charms are finished and behind me, I will begin my final project/Swap for the year. Several of us are creating necklaces for each other, not knowing who has who. My charm swap buddy has a very different design style from mine, so my goal for this project is to design the necklace with my design influence yet try and incorporate my charm buddy’s style too. This will be interesting…
In the meanwhile I was playing around with creating a low-tech framed bezel. There was no planning that went into this, so this definitely is a prototype. I look forward to re-creating this piece to achieve an a more polished and not so lopsided bezel.
Have a great day!

Super fun projects Jeanette! I love the use of Ice Resin. I have some projects that I need to complete with that, but alas, that has been packed away. But it is motivating me to find that stuff so I can complete the things I said I would! Your swaps sound like fun, especially the necklace one. Wish I were playing! Enjoy the day! Erin
Your little charms seem to be so lovely Jeanette. Never worked with ice resin, but i can believe it’s a wonderful moment to play with.
Your charms look great! I just love the way you packaged them. Your bezel is so creative, I really like it!
Your charms look great and the prototype looks intriguing! I wonder how Ice Resin compares to other resin types? I have not been able to locate Ice Resin here…
Thanks for those tips on using Ice Resin (and I am happy to hear its not too complicated). I am about to embark on a resin adventure to make some Christmas presents and I am mildly worried I will mess up the first few and waste supplies. I’ll make sure I get some Modge Podge now =)
For anyone looking for it and unable to find it locally, fire mountain gems sells ice resin.
Lovely work as always
These turned out beautiful! What a perfect picture for the Maids a Milking. I haven’t ventured into the resin realm yet but it looks like fun. We’d love to see your necklace when it’s finished.
great charms a i love the pendant. i too haven’t tried resin yet, but hope to soon.
