My children’s school already announced they would be closed tomorrow. I can’t believe it. We are expecting some snow tomorrow, but only a few inches. I think the reason for the closing is access to the school is still challenging. The buses are covered with snow and the areas around school still need to be plowed. I am really ready for my kids to return to school..
Today my husband gave me a free day to myself, a Valentine’s gift, and I spent the time in the studio. I made myself a riveted ring. This was a practice piece..the band is made of nickel silver and I used a copper and brass disc. It was so much fun to make and now I want to make several more…I have some ideas I want to play around with! Happy Valentine’s everyone.

That is cool! I made a few rings a few years ago at the Bead & Button show with Susan Lenart Kazmer. Unfortunately I never really finished any of them. And I am just not set up with the correct tools to do any of that! It is fun to play with metal. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the day! Erin
Love the ring!!!! I am still a bit intimidated by rings, but I really want to try a stacked ring…
If this is your practice ring, I can’t wait to see the real thing! Exceptional work and design.
I love, love the ring! What a sweet hubby to give you jewelry-making time for yourself! I know what you mean about the snow days! My son’s school has been closed since mid-day Friday, the 5th. They are closed today for President’s Day and we have our fingers crossed that he will go back tomorrow

It sure is stunning.
I really like the direction of your new pieces…this is SO cool! I expect to see you wearing this the next time we get together!
I absolutely love the ring. Rings and riveting are on my 2010 list of things to try. Any suggestions for good riveting instructions?
Hi Susan,
Susan Lenart Kazmer made a dvd for riveting..it’s pretty good! Otherwise, I recommend taking a riveting workshop. After one class you should be able to take it from there..:)
we’re TOLD there’s going to be snow on Monday. lovely. just lovely.
