A Vacation Treasure

anvil

We had a very nice vacation in Vermont. The kids had fun fishing, swimming and spending time with family. We ended our trip with a weekend in Boston and had lots of fun visiting the aquarium. As we were leaving Vermont and making our way to Boston, we stopped in a large antique store and low and behold, I finally found my large anvil that I have been looking for, and also at a very decent price. Some of you may ask why would anyone need such a large anvil, but if you work with metal and the more you get into expanding your skills, those little anvils just can’t do the job. This one weighs 150 pounds and was such a bargain. Also, since we were driving back home, we avoided a huge shipping fee. My husband finally took it out of the car today before he headed into work, but just left it on the front stoop, where it will stay until he comes home this evening.:)

Yesterday I spent several hours in the studio (grandma is visiting) making bangles and adding different color patinas and continue to perfect my enameling techniques, which supposedly can take a life-time.  Though, no photos today. As much as I would love to spend countless of days in the studio, I really need to focus on ArtBLISS. Less than two months away, and so much to do. Hopefully, by this weekend I can share with you some of the projects I have been working on. Have a great day.

I love Vermont, it is my favorite state! I lived in Brattleboro & Barre while I went to nursing school. Where did you go while you were in Vt?

The Anvil is an awesome find and it is huge! Have fun creating on it!

Congrats on your fabulous find! When we had our new and used tool brick and mortar store the used ones would go out the door as quickly as they came in! You were at the right place at the right time!
Enjoy!

I love VT too. A lot of my family still lives there…so relaxing. Wow that is a huge anvil but I’m sure you will put it to good use. SO excited for ArtBliss!

Vermont is always a great place to go wherever you were. I like the colors of the fall there. I am painting through synesthesia which makes me see colors when I hear names and numbers. These colors I transform in paintings. Colors are my life.

That is great, Jeanette. And to think you found it when you were driving and not flying is an added bonus. Can’t wait to see the projects you’ve been working on.

Jeanette, This anvil is so much fun! I think it could be the center of attention at a metal workshop. Just gather your students around the giant anvil, everyone could work as a team. BYOH (bring your own hammer)! ;D
