It’s all about silverware for me lately….

silverwareI can’t believe the beautiful and interesting pieces of jewelry that can be created with silverware. A few weeks ago I was browsing etsy, I really enjoy seeing everyone’s creations, and I came across etsy artisans who create awesome jewelry with silverware. I was so inspired afterwards that I went down to the basement to look for the old silverware I packed away ages ago. I made a bracelet for my mother, a few key chains, just having fun with it.

Well, today I received a package from my mother full of antique silver plate silverware.  A close friend of my mom heard I was looking for more silverware and gave her this set to give to me. The pieces are over 100 years old. I think this set is so pretty. I can’t wait to start working with them.

I haven’t done anything yet with JoAnne’s lampwork beads. They are in a little plastic bag sitting on my night stand next to my bed. The wirework will probably be fairly simple. I don’t like to cover lampwork beads with a lot of fancy wirework. I prefer the lampwork to be the star of the show, not the wire. So, we will see-this weekend I will either be sawing/pounding and shaping spoons and forks or bending wire and linking Joanne’s beads to create a necklace.

Looks like fun…both the new lampwork beads and tackling a new project with the silver spoons! Can’t wait to see what you make.

Have you tried doing any stamping on plain flatware (stainless steel I assume)???
