As I have mentioned in previous posts, I am involved in two charm swaps. The group I belong to is called the Charmsters group and these first set of charms are for the swap theme, “words, words words.” I decided to use my Chinese Symbol Stamps to express my words. I used a variety of Chinese symbols; love, friendship, family, peace and happiness. I stamped the symbol on the outer copper disc and added some texture. And to make these charms really pop and sparkle, I added a layer of textured brass behind the copper. I like my jewelry to have movement and I also enjoy the sound of metal when they are clanking against eachother. (Is clanking a word)?
The packaging of the charms is also a big part of the exchange. Everyone comes up with such creative packaging ideas. This will be a huge challenge for me because when it comes to packaging I usually just buy a gift bag, add some tissue and put the present inside. Quick and easy. This will require more thought..and for me to be more thoughtful! Have a wonderful weekend…

Lovely charms! I’m glad to hear you enjoy the sound of jewelry!
Yikes! I am so excited to see this. I have been working on mine but keep getting sidetracked…like the 4 hours I have spent (literally)trying to get my new Napster account working for the hunting trip my son is off on tomorrow. I so wanted to have that ready for him, but it has failed miserably. And I lost an entire night cursing my computer and Napster in equal parts. I am a bit daunted by the packaging too, but it will have to be the last thing I think of! Thanks for sharing, Jeanette! I can’t wait! Enjoy the day! Erin
Erin, I hope Santa gives you a new computer for the holidays….nothing is more frustrating than a computer that is on it’s last legs!
Oh, maybe I shouldn’t have read this post. I will be a recipient of one of those cool charms. Love the Asian symbol on each. Do you know what each symbol means? That might be a neat thing to add to each package. I’m excited to get this little beauty in the mail.
Hi Leslie,
Yes, I am going to include a note that gives the translation of the symbol. I have no idea who will get which, but I think we can all relate to all of them.
They are really beautiful and original Jeanette. Lucky girl the one who will receive one of them.

I love the Chinese word charms! In my book, clanking IS a word:-) I love movement in my jewelry too. Wish I were in on the swap – I’d love some of these!
Thanks for sharing

Hey Shelby, this is my first swap too! And I am also doing the 12 days of xmas, but I have not started on those yet!! And they are due the same time these are. I hope to get these in the mail tomorrow.
Sharon, this was so much fun. I enjoy focusing on creating small components. Though, I understand if you are busy with other projects, it’s best to wait until you feel you have some extra time to devote to this:)
Beautiful charms!
